In the Epic of Aeneas, written by Virgilius, Aeneas' flight from the city with his father and son is told. In some variations it is told Aeneas' flight with Palladion, the symbol and protector of the city of Troy. His role in this war is to flee the city and found a new kingdom and to continuing the Trojan lineage. The mother of Aeneas, who came from the Trojan royal family, was the goddess Aphrodite. Hence, Aeneas is a very noble figure with kinships based on both kings and gods. The descendants of Aeneas who settled in Italy established a new kingdom and thus formed the foundations of Rome.
