Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Charles IV, right.
Rev: HISPAN ET IND REX ME I P / 8R.
Crowned royal coat of arms between Pillars of Hercules draped with inscribed banner.
AC-984.
Condition: VF.
Weight: 26.78 g.
Diameter: 40 mm.
Charles IV was King of Spain and the Spanish Empire from 1788 to 1808. The Spain inherited by Charles IV gave few indications of instability but during his reign, Spain entered a series of disadvantageous alliances and his regime constantly sought cash to deal with the exigencies of war.
