Description

PB Byzantine lead seal. Michael hypatos, son of Marinos (6th-7th century).
Obv: Inscription of four lines beginning with a cross: |ΘΕΟΤΟΚ|ΕΟΗΘΗ|ΤΩΔΟΥ|…. : Θεοτόκε βοήθη τῷ δού[λῳ σου].
Rev: Inscription of four lines beginning with a cross: |Μ̣ΙΧΑΗ|ΛΥΠΑΤ|ΩΥΙΩΜ|ΑΡΙΝ : Μιχαὴλ ὑπάτῳ υἱῷ Μαρίνου.
It has a parallel from Harvard Art Museums/Arthur M. Sackler Museum, BZS.1951.31.5.256. But, ours is better preserved than DO specimen.
