Lebedos was an ancient Greek city located on the western coast of Asia Minor (modern-day Turkey), near the modern town of Seferihisar. It was originally founded by Ionian Greeks in the 7th century BC and became an important commercial and cultural center in the region.
The city was known for its flourishing trade, particularly in wine, olive oil, and textiles. It also had a significant naval fleet and participated in various military campaigns as a member of the Ionian League, a confederation of Greek city-states in Asia Minor.
Lebedos was later conquered by the Persians in the late 6th century BC, but it was later freed by Alexander the Great in the 4th century BC. It continued to prosper under the rule of the Roman Empire and even became a bishopric in the Christian era.
Today, the ruins of Lebedos can be visited as part of the Seferihisar Archaeological Site, which includes well-preserved remnants of the city's walls, theater, marketplace, and other structures.
