A roman carnelian intaglio set in a later gold ring. Bust of a Matrona with inscription.

Stone 10 x 13 mm; ring size 16,5 x 18 mm; 2.35 gr.
Female portrait with draped bust, facing left. The hairstyle refers to the imperial portraits of the second century A.D. The effigy is surrounded by a Greek inscription, probably votive. The gem is mounted in a ring from the Grand Tour era. Excellent condition.
