Description

Egypt. Alexandria. Marcus Aurelius, as Caesar, 139-161. Drachm (Bronze, 33.2 mm, 17.79 g). Dated RY 12 of Antoninus Pius (= 148/9). [Μ ΑΥ]ΡΗΛΙΟϹ ΚΑΙ[ϹΑΡ] Bareheaded, draped, and cuirassed bust right. Rev. Isis seated right, nursing Harpocrates; oinochoe atop short coulmn to right, all within distyle temple façade with uraeus in pediment; L in exergue, ΔωΔЄ-KATOV (date) around. Emmett 1888. Dattari-Savio 3217 (this coin). RPC IV.4, 1123.21 (this coin cited). Geissen 1914. Nice dark patina. Very Fine.

Still one drachm of Caesar Marcus Aurelius with high relief portrait and lovely style. It is a coin of notable and wide pedigree dating back to the collection of Giovanni Dattari (1901) that deserved to be mentioned by RPC IV.4 to no. 21 of the specimens catalogued sub 1123.
