Julius Caesar. AV Aureus, 46 BC. Rome mint; Aulus Hirtius, praetor. Obv. C. CAESAR COS. TER. Veiled female head (Vesta or Pietas?) right. Rev. Emblems of the augurate and pontificate: lituus, guttus and securis; A HIRTIVS P R around. Cr. 466/1; RBW 1636; Calicó 36. AV. 8.15 g. 20 mm. Superb example. Well-centered and struck on a broad flan. Rare in this condition. Minor smoothing on the edge and light marks typical of the issue, otherwise. EF/About EF. Ex Bertolami 109, 2022, 427.
