Greek Italy. Southern Apulia, Tarentum. AR Obol, c. 280-228 BC. Obv. Cockle shell. Rev. Phalanthos, nude, holding cornucopiae and palm branch, riding dolphin left; ΦΙ below. HN Italy -; cf. 980 (dolphin on rev.); Vlasto 1600; SNG ANS 1535; For similar specimen see NAC 82, lot 70 (600 CHF realized). AR. 0.49 g. 11.00 mm. RR. Very rare and superb. Delicate patina with underlying luster. EF.
