Greek Italy. Southern Lucania, Metapontum. AR Nomos, c. 290-280 BC. Obv. Wreathed head of Demeter right; ΔI to left. Rev. META. Barley ear with leaf to left; amphora above leaf, [tiny |-A] below. HN Italy 1619; Johnston Class D, 3.10. AR. 7.52 g. 20.50 mm. Of enchanting style, brilliant and superb. Reverse slightly off centre. Lovely iridescent cabinet tone. Minor scratch on obverse, otherwise about EF.
