Description

Greek Asia. Mysia, Pergamon. Roman Rule, c. 133-67 BC. AR Cistophorus. Obv. Cista mystica with serpent; all within ivy wreath. Rev. Bow in bow case decorated with aphlaston, flanked by two serpents; ΔH above prytaneis monogram above; ΠEPΓ civic monogram to left; thyrsos entwined by a serpent to right. SNG BN 1732-3; Kleiner, Hoard 31. AR. 12.50 g. 28.50 mm. A choice example, struck on a broad flan. Brilliant and lightly toned, with deep grey spots Good VF/About EF.
