Commodus (177-192). AE Sestertius, 192 AD. Obv. [L] AEL AVREL COMM AVG[ P FEL]. Laureate head right. Rev. VOTA SOLV PRO [SAL P R COS VI PP] SC (in ex.). Commodus, veiled, Standing right, sacrificing over tripod; before him, victimarius raising axe to strike bull, which an attendant holds by the horns, and flute-player. RIC III 603; C. 986. AE. 23.60 g. 29.00 mm. RR. Very rare and fascinating issue. Uneven mottled olive and light green patina. VF.
