Greek Italy. Southern Apulia, Tarentum. AR Nomos, Reduced standard, c. 240-228 BC. Obv. Nude warrior, brandishing javelin, on horse galloping right; wreath to left, OΛYMΠIΣ below. Rev. Phalanthos, nude, holding kantharos and cornucopiae, on dolphin left; tripod to right; T-APAΣ below. Vlasto 942-3; HN Italy 1055. AR. 6.46 g. 20.00 mm. Great metal. An outstanding superb example, well centred, brilliant and lightly toned. EF.
