Sicily. Syracuse. Temp. Dionysios I (405-367 BC). AR Hemilitron, c. 405-395 BC. Obv. Head of Arethusa right, hair bound in ampyx and sphendone. Rev. Four-spoked wheel; ΣY-PA in upper quarters; two dophins in lower. HGC 2 1393; SNG ANS 303 var. (head left). AR. 0.48 g. 10.00 mm. R. A choice example of this rare issue. Lovely blackish tone. Slightly rough surfaces, otherwise about EF. The style of Arethusa is similar to that of Kimon's hemidrachm.
