Greek Italy. Southern Apulia, Brundisium. AE Quadrans, Semuncial standard, 2nd century BC. Obv. Laureate head of Poseidon right, crowned by Nike; trident behind; three pellets below. Rev. Phalanthos, nude, riding dolphin left, holding large cithara, Nike crowning him; below, monogram (abbreviated magistrate's name) and BR-VN; beneath, three pellets. HN Italy 751; McClean 512. AE. 3.44 g. 17.00 mm. R. Rare and choice. Slightly rough reverse surface, attractive dark green patina. VF.
