RARE MYCENEAN AMPHORA WITH SPIRALS

Ca. 1400 - 1300 BC. A painted terracotta phithos decorated with classic Mycenaean spirals. It has a cone-shaped body surmounted by three looped handles on the shoulders, each adorned in black along with a flaring neck and broad flat rim. For similar see: The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Accession Number: 74.51.762. Size: 130mm x 100mm; Weight: 245g Provenance: Property of a central London gallery, acquired on the US art market; Ex. Private Collection, Connecticut, 1990s; Ex. private Switzerland collection. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter. This piece is accompanied by a historical report from Alessandro Neri, an international Cultural Heritage expert based in Florence, Italy.
