EGYPTIAN ALBASTER OFFERING VESSEL
Late Period, Ca. 664 - 332 BC. A finely carved alabaster offering vessel. The stone is near-translucent with banded inclusions in warm hues of honey and butterscotch. Sitting upon a planar base, this rounded vessel presents a corseted shoulder and a dramatically flared, flat rim surrounding a wide mouth. Reviewed by Simone Musso, consultant curator for Egyptian antiquities at the Stibbert Museum, Florence, Italy, member of the Nuri Archaeological Expedition.
