VIKING SILVER CIRCULAR PENDANT WITH SPIRALS
Ca. AD 800 - 1100 A Viking silver pendant of circular form with a symmetrical geometric composition. The pendant features a repeated motif of lined rope, shaped around a centre composed by three spirals. Silver jewellery was the ultimate symbol of wealth and status in Europe at this time and they were most likely inspired by the fine jewellery of the Byzantine world.
