PAIR OF RARE VISIGOTHIC GILDED BRONZE BROOCHES WITH RED GARNET CABOCHONS

Ca. AD 400 - 600 A pair of rare Visigothic / Longobardic gilded bronze bow-shaped brooches with hemispherical sun-shaped faces. The rest of the surface is embellished with low-relief scrolling shapes and red garnet inlays. The reverse has an iron backplate to reinforce the bronze. Size: 130-130mm x 55-55mm; Weight: 160g
Provenance: Property of a West London gentleman; previously in a collection formed on the UK/International art market in the 1990s. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
This piece is accompanied by a historical report from Alessandro Neri, an international Cultural Heritage expert based in Florence, Italy.
