LATE ROMAN INLAID RING DEPICTING A RADIANT SUN
Ca. AD 200 - 400 A late Roman bronze ring with a circular bezel inlaid with an enamel depiction of the sun. The shoulder has auxiliary areas which would have held side-stones. In Roman mythology, the sun was personified as the god Sol, who was often depicted riding a chariot across the sky. For similar see: El Legado de Hefesto, n. 520.
