PERCUSSION CAP POCKET PISTOL
Ca. AD 1840s A finely crafted pocket pistol, likely from the 1840s, featuring a smoothbore barrel and a percussion cap firing system. The hammer is decorated with a lion's head and the receiver is engraved with swirling, plant-like imagery and a thick zig-zag border. The external barrel is octagonal and the wooden handle is rounded and textured for a better grip. Small and easily concealable, pistols like this would have been used for self-defence.
