Description

Ca. 2nd-4th century AD.
A collection of bone medical and cosmetic tools. Each tool features a round-section handle and a variety of ends, carefully crafted for specific cosmetic purposes. The ancient Romans were renowned for their love of beauty and hygiene, and these tools provide an exceptional insight into the daily routines of the upper echelons of society. The collection includes a range of implements, including spatulas, scrapers, and applicators, all expertly crafted from bone and polished to a smooth finish. These tools were used for a variety of cosmetic purposes, such as applying makeup and scraping away dead skin cells. The spatulas, for example, would have been used to apply pigments to the skin, while the scrapers would have been used to exfoliate the skin.
