ROMAN SILVER SPOON WITH TWISTED HANDLE

A silver spoon features an elongated bowl that gently flares towards the outer edge, exhibiting a refined and aesthetically pleasing form. Along the entire length of the bowl, intricate repoussé dotted decoration adds a touch of elegance and visual interest. The handle of the spoon is particularly noteworthy, displaying a twisted effect that enhances its uniqueness. The handle culminates in a loop terminal, serving the practical purpose of attachment or hanging. Silver spoons held a prominent role in ancient Roman society, serving various functions and reflecting cultural and social customs. Functionally, spoons were primarily utilized for the consumption of food and drink. Beyond their utilitarian function, they carried symbolic and social significance and also played a role in religious and ceremonial contexts.
