LATE VIKING OR SAXON SEAX (KNIFE) WITH HILT PLATE AND ‘BROKEN BACK’ BLADE
Ca. 10th-11th century AD.
An iron seax blade with a straight cutting edge and sharply angled back, the tang offset from the blade. Its hilt would have been made of wood, bone, or horn. The seax is a very fine large fighting knife which was used by most warriors.
