ROMAN GLASS COSMETIC CONTAINER

A fine Ancient Roman cosmetic container blown from pale green glass with nice purple silver iridescence evident. The vessel features a slender piriform body with trailing ribbed decoration. It stands on a splayed foot. Two handles have been applied to the cylindrical neck, then drawn up and pressed onto the everted rim.

Provenance: From an old British collection, acquired on the UK art market in the 1980s.
