LARGE ROMAN BRONZE LAMP ON STAND
Ca. 200 AD.
A cast bronze decorative tripod stand with an oil lamp. The feet are rounded, abstract forms that suggest the paws of an animal; a heavy, skirt-like form is around the legs. Above that is an elegant, columnar leg with various disc-like forms along its length. It is capped by a steep-walled, circular bowl with a spike through it to attach to the lamp. The lamp with head of Cupid, conjoined by a mirror.
