VERY RARE TYPE OF CELTIC IRON SWORD WITH BRONZE HANDLE
Ca. 800-500 BC.
Straight double edged iron blade. Bronze handle, with trapezoid guard, bronze grip, widening towards the middle, where a ridge is formed. Openwork oval pommel. All parts of the handle decorated with cone shape rivets. Dagger with almost identical openwork bronze handle and iron blade is depicted in a table “Kultur der Metalzeit I (Ältere Periode)”, 1900.

Provenance: Property of an European collector; previously in the Ing. Peter Till collection, sold in the UK in 1981; found in 1907, presumably in Austria.
