CHINESE TANG DYNASTY TERRACOTTA FEMALE MUSICIAN - TL TESTED
Ca. 618-907 AD. A mould-formed pottery tomb attendant figure in the form of a woman who is wearing a long robe with a red-painted skirt, upper clothing in cream, her right arm by her side holding a pipa, and her right hand outstretched, she is displaying a harmonic expression; her smiling face beneath a large hair bun. Excellent condition and original paintwork. This piece has been precisely dated by means of a Thermo Luminescence analysis carried out by Ralf Kotalla, an independent German Laboratory. The samples collected date the piece to the period reflected in its style, whilst also showing no modern trace elements.
