ROMAN AMETHYST STONE GOLD EARRINGS
Ca. 100-300 AD. A delicate pair of gold earrings, each with a non-pierce screw and a hoop with a suspended short chain with beautiful amethyst beads, secure at the bottom with a loop. The gold setting is of a later period. Many rich Roman women owned expensive jewellery. They wore precious stones such as opals, emeralds, diamonds, topaz, and pearls set as earrings, bracelets, rings, brooches, necklaces, and diadems.
