★ Memento Mori ★
17th century. An ivory carved bead, showing scenes from the life of Christ. Such ivory carvings were made and used around Europe, they served as a reminder of one's own mortality. It required immense amount of practice and skill to create these pieces. Fine condition. Provenance: Property of a UK lady, from the family collection formed in the 1970s, ex. Timeline Auctions 2018
