1nd - 3rd century AD. Roman bronze head of an African Slave. Bronze head of an African slave, with an expressive angered face with pronounced eyebrows and eyes, turned left, with rope around the strong neck. Masterful workmanship. This head was likely a part of a pair for the decoration of a chariot. Very fine condition, with attractive green patina. Very rare! Provenance: From a North West London lady; ex.
