A rare type, dateable to the first few years of Philip's reign while he was still a teenager. In this period he defeated the tribes in the north and led the Hellenic league in victories against Sparta and and the Aetolian League in the Social War, re-establishing Macedon as the pre-eminent military power in Greece.
