EGYPT, Alexandria: Hadrian (117-138), AE Drachm, issued 131/2. 23.13g, 33.9mm.
Obv: Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right.
Rev: Serapis, holding sceptre and raising hand, standing right, facing Hadrian standing left, resting hand on stele inscribed ADP/IA/NON in three lines; all within distyle temple, pediment decorated with disk; L I[Z] in exergue (regnal year 17, 132/3).

From the zumbly collection, Ex Robert L. Grover Collection of Roman-Egyptian Coinage, previously held by the Art Institute of Chicago (accession #1980.989). "Grover approached coins as primary sources: as political propaganda by Roman emperors, as reflections of the religions of the day, and as historical documents picturing structures destroyed in antiquity.
