Byzantine. Constantinople. Nicephorus II Phocas. 963-969. AR Miliaresion (22mm, 2.66g). +IhSU[S XPI-ST]US nICA and star, cross crosslet on globe above two steps, at the center medallion of four lobes containing facing bust of Nicephorus with short beard, wearing crown and loros and dividing the inscription n over I–C over F, all within triple border ornamented with eight equally spaced globes / + hICHF' / Eh XW AVTO / CRAT' EVSEb' / bASILEVS / RWMAIW', legend in five lines, cross of dots above and below. DOC 6; Sear 1781. Very fine, slightly wavy flan.
