Unattributed Germanic. Pseudo-Imperial issue. 4th century A.D. Fourrée aureus (18 mm, 2.23 g). Plated group. IIIIO IIII, laureate and cuirassed imperial bust to left / II IZIΘ I I II / ΘZΘ, two male figures standing left and right; the one on the right holds a long scepter ending in a knot in his right hand; the one on the left holds a shorter scepter ending in a 'treetop' in his right hand and places an uncertain object on a tripod or altar between them. Very rare.
Another coin with this reverse die appeared in Leu Auction 7 (24 October 2020), 1913, noting:?"What exactly this reverse copies is difficult to say: perhaps it is a rendering of two emperors standing together as on Calicó 4300 (Numerian), 4342 (Carinus), 4423 (Diocletian) and Maximian 4610."? Both dies as Leu Auction 7 (24 October 2020), 1914.
