★ Extremely rare, apparently the second known example ★

CIMMERIAN BOSPOROS. Pantikapaion. Circa 450-438/7 BC. Tetrobol (Silver, 14 mm, 3.53 g). Facing head of a lion. Rev. Quadripartite incuse square with windmill/swastika pattern, star in two opposite quarters. Anokhin -. Frolova -. HGC 7, -. Leu 7 (2020), 1212. MacDonald -. SNG BM Black Sea -. SNG Stancomb -. Extremely rare, apparently the second known example. A beautifully toned piece with a vigorous lion. Slightly porous and with a minor die break on the obverse, otherwise, good very fine.

From the Pontos Euxeinos Collection, formed in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
